Description

This is a reprint of a 1938 German book and is an essential buy to learn more about its subject matter.
“The Brown Battalions” was published by the SA in 1938 it has 260 photographs of the SA in 128 pages, this edition
was translated and edited by Nicholas H. Hatch in September 1999 and has a forward by this gentleman in which he follows the book by air brushing from history any mention of Ernst Rohm and the “Night Of The Long Knives”.
The SA were following the example of Hitler when he endeavoured to dispose of any copy of the 1933 film
“Victory Of Faith” Riefenstal’s earlier effort at a Nuremburg rally. This book was re-published by Turner Publishing Company of Kentucky it has an attractive large format and the the rear has a large colour photogragh of Rohm’s successor SA Stabchef Victor Lutze, its first page repeats the words of the Fuhrer said to his SA on January 30 1936 in large words taking up the whole page.

“EVERYTHING, WHAT YOU ARE, YOU ARE THROUGH ME
AND EVERYTHING WHAT I AM, I AM ONLY THROUGH YOU”.

One interesting feature of this book is a 2 page spread of anti SA catoons with their words not commented upon I found this to be unusual, perhaps it was just that the SA were unafraid of what others thought about them? There was no mention of the SS within the book, while they would not mention their former leader at least they would give no place to his killer.
On the last page are the words:

SAY THANKS TO THE SA BY A DONATION TO THE THANKS OFFERING OF THE NATION.
